Melcior Domenge (1872-1939): Un paisatgista místic. 

Melcior Domenge Antiga (Olot, May 10, 1872 – Olot, 1939), born in a humble family, became a Catalan painter and creator. He trained at the Drawing School of Olot, where he was later professor. In 1892 he received a small pension from the Diputació de Girona to extend his studies during two courses at the School of Fine Arts of Barcelona, the Llotja. The president of the court that decided to grant the pension was the painter Joaquim Vayreda. Once the pension was over, Domenge resided in Olot, where he painted and worked as a teacher. He died in the same city in 1939. Representing –together with Josep Berga i Boada, Miquel Blay and Josep Clarà– of the second generation of artists from the Olot School, he cultivated the portrait and religious theme (Bon Pastor, in the Capuchins of Olot), but was basically a landscaper faithful to the steps of his teachers. Domenge was a favorite student of Joaquim Vayreda.
